Article (24): Conditions of registration In addition to the conditions mentioned in Article (3), the following is required for a student to be enrolled for a master’s degree:

A- To have a bachelor’s degree (or BA) with at least a good general grade in the specialization branch from one of the faculties of ….. Egyptian universities or any equivalent degree from any other institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities.

B- The college council may, based on the recommendation of the concerned department council, accept the enrollment of a student for a master’s degree if he holds a bachelor’s degree (or bachelor’s degree)……. With a general grade of less than good, in addition to one of the graduate studies diplomas from one of the colleges ……..recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities, with a general grade of at least good.

C- The College Council may, based on the recommendation of the concerned department council, accept non-Egyptian students who have a bachelor’s degree (or licentiate) in ……. From any college or institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities.

D- Students applying for a master’s degree and holding a bachelor’s degree (or licentiate) in a field other than the required major may be enrolled after taking the preliminary courses exam that may be required by the concerned department. These hours are not counted among the hours mentioned in Article (26).

Article (25): Duration of study

A- The minimum period for obtaining a master’s degree is two years from the date of enrollment.

B – The maximum period for obtaining a master’s degree is five years from the date of enrollment, taking into account cases of suspension of enrollment. The period may be extended for another period based on the proposal of the main supervisor (supervision committee) and the approval of the concerned department council, the graduate studies and research committee, and the college council.

Article (26): Master’s degree in

A- Sohag University grants, based on the proposal of the College Council, a master’s degree in ……. The system of courses and research in the specialties of the various departments, and the name of the relevant department (and specialization) and the title of the research are indicated in the certificate.

B- The concerned department determines the courses for the student that are appropriate to the subject of the research from among the courses approved by the College Council so that they are not less than 30 credit hours of code 600 at least, and the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research approves these courses

C- After completing the study of 24 credit hours with a GPA of no less than 3.0, the student may prepare an applied research that will be evaluated as 6 credit hours in a subject determined by the main supervisor (supervision committee) and approved by the relevant department council, the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee, and the College Council.

D- The research is evaluated by a committee formed by the concerned department, and in its evaluation the points obtained by the research are determined to be included within the average score.

E- The student who does not achieve points of at least 3.0 in the research hours must resubmit the research and be treated as courses in his account within the points average and in the registration fees.

F-The student must pass the TOEFL test in the English language before starting the preparation of the research, with a score of at least 450 degrees, or the equivalent of this exam from the internationally recognized English language exams. prior to the date of enrollment for the degree.

G- The student obtains a master’s degree in ……. After successfully completing the studies requirements with a GPA of no less than 3.0, he may repeat some courses or study other courses to improve the GPA.

The concerned department council may agree to amend the research field at the request of the main supervisor, and that amendment is approved by the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee and the College Council. This shall not result in a breach of the time periods stipulated in Article (25).

I- The concerned department council may assign the student to pass some of the courses that the main supervisor determines for him from among the courses in the department from the undergraduate level or code 500 or that are taught in other departments of the college or in one of the faculties or institutes of Sohag University or recognized foreign universities, on condition Not to exceed a total of eight (8) credit hours.

These hours are not counted for the student within the approved hours mentioned in Paragraph (b) of this article. J- Studying with this degree is completed and does not require a full-time study.

Article (27): Master’s degree in Science

A- Sohag University grants, based on the proposal of the departments council and the approval of the college council, a master’s degree in science … by the thesis system in the specializations of the various departments of the college, and the name of the department (and specialization) and the title of the thesis are indicated in the certificate.

B – The concerned department determines the courses for the student that are appropriate to the topic of the thesis from among the courses approved by the College Council, so that they are not less than 18 credit hours of code 600 at least, and the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research approves these courses.

C- After completing the study of 12 credit hours with a GPA of no less than 3.0, the student may prepare a scientific thesis that will be evaluated as 18 credit hours in a subject determined by the main supervisor (supervision committee) and approved by the relevant department council, the Graduate Studies and Research Committee, and the College Council.

D- Before starting to prepare the dissertation, the student must pass the TOEFL exam in the English language with a score of at least 450, or the equivalent of this exam from the internationally recognized English language exams. Years prior to the date of his registration for the degree.

E- The student does not apply to discuss the dissertation before passing all the courses successfully, with a GPA of not less than 3.0, and he may repeat some courses or study other courses to improve the average.The concerned department council may agree to amend the thesis title at the request of the main supervisor, and that amendment is approved by the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee and the College Council. This does not result in a breach of the time periods stipulated in Article (25).

G- The relevant department council may assign the student to pass some of the courses that the main supervisor determines for him from among the courses in the department from the undergraduate level (or BA) or code 500 or that are taught in other departments in the college or in one of the faculties or institutes of Sohag University or universities recognized foreign students, provided that their total does not exceed eight (8) credit hours. These hours are not counted for the student within the credit hours mentioned in Paragraph (b) of this article.

H – The publication of a scientific paper extracted from the contents of the dissertation must be accepted in a specialized and refereed scientific journal or in a specialized scientific conference and evidence of publication or acceptance for publication must be submitted.

I- Obtaining this degree qualifies the student to take the comprehensive examination required for registration for the Ph.D.

Article (28): Course Equivalency

The College Council may, based on the proposal of the concerned department council and the approval of the Graduate Studies and Research Committee of the College, calculate courses at the level of postgraduate studies for at least a Master’s degree, and in the same specialization, and the student has previously studied them at the College or in a scientific institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities and succeeded in them with a grade of good at least within five years years preceding his enrollment in a master’s degree, provided that the number of hours for these courses does not exceed eight (8) credit hours.

Article (29): Grant conditions

A- Accepting the thesis (or research) from the judging committee and recommending the award of the degree. Article (30): Cancellation of registration The College Council cancels the enrollment of a student for a master’s degree in … or a master’s degree in science … in the following cases:

A- Obtaining a general grade of less than good in the academic courses.

B- His interruption of his studies or his lack of seriousness in the research, with the approval of the concerned department council and the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee, based on a report from the main supervisor (or the supervision committee).

C- The judging committee’s rejection of the thesis (or research) and its recommendation not to grant the degree.

D- Not granting the degree during the periods stipulated in Article (30) of the regulations, taking into account the cases of suspension of enrollment.

E- Submitting an application to cancel his registration.

F- Failure to pay the prescribed fees in accordance with the rules regulating this, and this does not apply to teaching assistants, research students, and scholarship students.
