Formation of the judging and discussion committee

Formation is supported by:

1- Department Council: (Paragraph 11 of Article 55 of Law No. 49 of 1972 )

2- Faculty Graduate Studies and Research Committee: (Paragraph 8 of Article 29 of the executive regulations

3 Faculty Council: (Paragraph 19 of Article 41 of Law 49 of 1972)

4- Accreditation from Prof. / Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research

(Paragraph 6 of Article 20 of the executive regulations)

Article (104) of the executive regulations

The Faculty Council forms a committee for judging the thesis of three members, one of whom is the supervisor of the thesis and the other two members are from among the professors and assistant professors in the universities

It is permissible for the two members or one of them to be former professors or specialists of their scientific level, provided that at least one of them is from outside the college for master’s theses and from outside the university for doctoral theses.

The formation of the judging committee is approved by the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research

Article 105 of the executive regulations: a

The theses are discussed publicly, and each member of the judging committee presents a detailed scientific report on the thesis and the outcome of the discussion. All of them are presented to the College Graduate Studies and Research Committee, then the College Council, in preparation for presentation to the University Council.

  The University Council, Session No. (128) in 12/27/2017 approved on the proposal of the Postgraduate Studies and Research Council on 12/25/2017:

  • Prohibition of arbitration of scientific theses in the Cairo rest house, except in extreme cases and with the approval of the university president
  • Recording and documenting the scientific discussions of the theses to benefit from them and to be with the knowledge of the Graduate Studies Department in each college and to deliver a copy on CD of the discussion
  • Taking into account the non-participation of the fourth degree of relatives in supervising and forming arbitration committees for master’s and doctoral theses for the researcher, the supervisory board, and the arbitration and discussion board
  • Consider not choosing arbitrators from one university.

 If there is a disagreement between the supervisors about the validity of the Thesis to be discussed

The Lecturer opinion should be advisory, and the opinion and the decisive decision, regarding the validity of the thesis, must be taken by the main supervisor 

Regarding the kinship relationship between one of the supervisors and some of Researchers

Publish Research Extracted from Master’s and Doctoral Dissertations

The University Council decided in its session (133) on May 28, 2018:

  • For a master’s student, publish ONLY one research in a specialized, or accepted scientific journal.
  • For a PhD student, he is allowed to published two research papers in a specialized, or accepted scientific journal.
