General Rules

Article (1): Study System:

The study is based on the credit hours system, and enrollment in it is permitted for graduates of faculties … in Egyptian universities, or holders of scientific degrees that have been equalized by the Supreme Council of Universities. It is allowed to accept graduates of the corresponding colleges to study the diploma of advanced professional studies only after passing the qualifying stage, where

A- The credit hour for any course represents at least fifteen academic hours.

b- The regulations show the number of teaching hours and the number of credit hours equivalent to each course.

At least one hour is allocated for each credit hour for the written exam, so that the time for the written exam is not less than two hours and not more than four hours.

D- The written exam or part of it in the courses that have a practical part shall be replaced by an exam or an oral one, depending on the nature of the course.

Article (2): Registration and study dates:

A- College announces… Sohag University in March of each year for the qualifying study, preliminary study, and diplomas available in the following academic year, and the last date for submitting completed applications to the college is the first Saturday of September. This is for accepted students who meet the enrollment requirements and who have paid tuition fees.

B – Enrollment for the master’s and doctoral levels takes place during the month preceding the start of studies in the first and second semesters after fulfilling the conditions for enrollment and paying the prescribed fees.

C- The academic year is divided into three semesters as follows:

The first semester: starts from the second week of the start of the study in the first semester of the bachelor’s degree (bachelor’s degree) and lasts for 15 weeks.

The second semester: starts from the second week of the start of the study in the second semester of the bachelor’s degree (Bachelor’s degree) and lasts for 15 weeks.

Summer semester: starts from the first Saturday of July for a period of 8 weeks.

Article (3): Registration Conditions:

A- Obtaining the approval of the concerned department.

B- Obtaining the approval of the entity in which the student works for the registration.

C- Completion of all documents required by the Department of Postgraduate Studies in the college.

D- Pay the prescribed tuition fees before the start of the study and at the dates specified by the Graduate Studies Department at the university.

E- The university council may add other conditions it deems necessary for admission, such as conducting an admission exam (oral or written) for new students, requesting remedial courses, and determining the number of accepted students according to the capabilities available in the department and college. The addition of these conditions is based on the proposal of the relevant department council and the approval of the college council. .

Article (4): Suspension of Registration:

The College Council may, based on the proposal of the concerned department council and the approval of the Graduate Studies Committee of the College, suspend the enrollment of a student enrolled in postgraduate studies for a period not exceeding a total of 24 months, in the following cases:

A- Conscription: The student must submit a request to suspend his enrollment for the duration of his conscription, within the first three months from the date of his enlistment, supported by documents indicating that.

B- Traveling abroad: The student must submit a request to suspend his enrollment before he travels (or during the first month of his travel) on a mission or leave, supported by documents indicating the need for him to travel for a period of more than a month. his return.

C- Illness: The student must submit an application when he is sick, supported by a sickness certificate approved by the medical administration of the university, specifying the period of his illness, provided that it is not less than a month.

D- Childbirth and child care: The student must submit a request to stop the child care enrollment, supported by his birth certificate.

E- Other cases accepted by the Graduate Studies and Research Committee of the College and approved by the College Council.

Article (5): Registration Conditions:

A- A student can register in the first or second semester for courses with 12 credit hours, without being asked to devote himself to studying.

b- Those who wish to register in the first semester or the second semester in courses whose number of credit hours exceeds 12 hours must devote themselves to studying for at least one day per week.

C- The maximum number of credit hours a student is allowed to register for in the first or second semester is 18 hours.

D- A student can register for the summer semester in courses whose credit hours do not exceed 6 hours, and full-time study is not required.

Article (6): Terms of Amendment and Cancellation:

A- The student has the right to replace one course with another within two weeks of the start of the study, in a manner that does not contradict Article (5).

B – The student has the right to withdraw from the course within a maximum of eight weeks from the beginning of the study in the first and second semesters, and a maximum of four weeks in the summer semester, and the student may not refund the tuition fees in the event of withdrawal.

C- The student must re-register in any course he failed in and pay the prescribed tuition fees.

Article (7): Examination Dates:

A – Examinations for the end of the first and second semesters are held after the end of the fifteenth week of the beginning of the study at a date determined by the University Council based on the proposal of the College Council.

B – Examinations for the end of the summer semester are held after the end of the eighth week of the beginning of the semester at a date determined by the University Council based on the proposal of the College Council.

Article (8): Persistence:

A student is prohibited from applying for an exam for any course if he does not achieve an attendance rate of at least 75%. This is based on the report of the teaching leader, with the notification of the concerned department council and the approval of the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee and the College Council. In this case, the student is considered to have failed the course and does not receive any points in the course. This course

Article (9): TheCode System for Academic Curricula:

A- The course code begins with a letter indicating the degree (the letter D stands for the diploma degree, the letter M stands for the master’s degree, and the letter P stands for the doctorate) followed by a number tens of thousands and thousands indicating the relevant department, the number hundreds indicating the level of the course, and the number tens and ones indicating the course number for the academic year .

B – denotes a department …. No. 01 and for the section …. No. 02 and for the section …. No. 05

C- Courses are divided into level 500 courses for diploma students, level 600 courses for master’s students, and level 600 courses or higher for doctoral students.

D- The departments in the college may introduce level 500 courses for diploma students, level 600 courses or less for master’s students, and level 700 courses or less for doctoral students. In this case, the approval of the Graduate Studies and Research Committee and the College Council must be obtained before the beginning of the semester in which the course is taught with Provide an adequate description of the course.
