GRANTING MASTER’S AND DOCTORAL THESES

ON JUNE 27, 2011, THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL APPROVED OBTAINING ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATES AS A CONDITION FOR GRANTING MASTER’S AND DOCTORAL THESES:

FIRST: MASTERS

1- A CERTIFICATE OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY GRANTED BY THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CENTER AT SOHAG UNIVERSITY, AND ITS DURATION IS 36 HOURS, ENDING WITH AN EXAM, PROVIDED THAT THE SUCCESS RATE IS NOT LESS THAN THE FOLLOWING:

80% FOR PRACTICAL COLLEGES.

70% FOR THEORETICAL FACULTIES.

SECOND PHD:

OBTAINING A CERTIFICATE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY + PASSING A SECOND FOREIGN LANGUAGE EXAM “GERMAN OR FRENCH.” THOSE WHO PASS A MASTER’S DEGREE ARE EXEMPTED FROM THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE, AND THE SECOND FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSE IS EXEMPTED IF THE REGISTRATION IS IN ONE OF THE SPECIALIZED LANGUAGES DEPARTMENTS IN THE “EDUCATION-ARTS” FACULTIES AT THE UNIVERSITY. THOSE WHO SPENT A PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN ONE YEAR STUDYING IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY ARE ALSO EXEMPTED FROM IT.

ON OCTOBER 22, 2015, THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL APPROVED:

EXEMPTING FOREIGN STUDENTS FROM THE CONDITIONS OF ENROLLMENT OR GRANTING MASTER’S AND DOCTORAL DEGREES THAT IMPEDE FOREIGN STUDENTS.

THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL DECIDED IN ITS SESSION (133) ON MAY 28, 2018:

FOR A MASTER’S STUDENT, ONE RESEARCH HAS BEEN PUBLISHED IN A PEER-REVIEWED, SPECIALIZED, OR ACCEPTED SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL.

FOR A PHD STUDENT, HE HAS PUBLISHED TWO RESEARCH PAPERS IN A PEER-REVIEWED, SPECIALIZED, OR ACCEPTED SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL.

ON NOVEMBER 30, 2015, THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL APPROVED:

EXEMPTING FOREIGN STUDENTS FROM THE CONDITIONS OF ENROLLMENT, REGISTRATION, OR GRANTING MASTER’S AND DOCTORAL DEGREES THAT IMPEDE FOREIGN STUDENTS
